Technical: Check and Improve Your Website
Use Technical overview, Citability, Freshness and Fix kits to review saved checks and improve your website.
Overview, Citability, Freshness and Fix kits
In both Basic and Advanced views, the Technical left menu contains Technical overview, Citability, Freshness and Fix kits. On mobile, open the navigation menu to find the same items.
Overview: choose Run a new scan, review the confirmation and confirm to start. The scan uses no credits and publishes nothing. A completed scan collapses to its time and duration. Use View results in scan history to inspect a saved scan. Information buttons explain the limits of each check. Choose Open audit findings to review what your latest audit found.
Citability: review the measured page, its dimension scores and editorial suggestions. Expand See the text we checked to inspect the quoted passage. Citability is an estimate of page structure, not evidence that an AI service cited your page or verified its facts.
Freshness: pages most in need of an update come first. Open page visits your website. Improve this page opens Content with the URL prefilled for stale or expired pages. After updating the website, choose Check again and confirm the free scan to detect the update date. No date found does not mean the page is stale.
Fix kits: prepare an llms.txt file, structured data or a rewrite kit for your website. Each action shows its credit limit beside its name. Open its information button for details before you start. Kit history at the foot of the page lists jobs and their status. Saved writing drafts belong in Content. Use Citability to review your scan results and decide which passages to improve.
Crawler rules
The Crawler rules score describes rules in the public robots.txt file. An allowed rule does not establish whether a bot can access your site through its firewall. Open the card's information button for the check's limits.
Content freshness
Freshness uses detected update dates from saved page checks. Missing dates remain unknown. After making a real update on your website, use Check again and confirm the free scan to detect the date again. Outrigger does not record a self-reported update date.
Citability
Citability describes the measured page, not every page on the website. Its dimensions cover direct answers, headings, supporting facts, section length, questions and answers, comparisons and date signals. Editorial suggestions point to text you can inspect before editing. Do not add filler, unsupported statistics or a new date just to raise a score.
Structured data
Visible schema describes structured data found in the sampled page's delivered HTML. The scan does not render JavaScript or establish site-wide schema coverage. Fix kits can prepare structured data for review; applying it to the website remains your decision.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does a Technical scan check?
The free scan reads public crawler rules, looks for structured data in delivered HTML, estimates the sampled page's citability and checks page update dates. It does not test actual firewall access or JavaScript rendering.
Does a missing update date mean a page is stale?
No. No date found means the scan could not detect an update date. It does not classify that page as stale or expired.
What does the citability score mean?
It estimates how easy the sampled page is to quote, based on its structure and text. It does not prove actual AI citations or verify the page's facts. Use suggestions only where they help your readers.
Do scans or kits publish changes?
No. A Technical scan uses no credits and asks for confirmation. Fix kits shows each action's credit limit before you start. You review and apply the output to your website yourself.
